Well, “stuff happens” when Henry is left solely in charge.  We need Radar to clean these messes up...

(dont get me wrong tho...im sure they’ll get a lot of data from this...just seems like the kinda thing that would have raised some eyebrows at least for being ethically maybe a little bit suspect say...6 months ago)

tho...tbh...its not like ethically suspect is something that bothers me a whole lot...just something i noticed is all

Well, interesting, since “the EU handled the situation perfectly”, at least according to the party out of power here, trying to get back into power.

The ethics do seem a little sketchy.  I mean there’s no history of Germany ever pushing the bounds of well-accepted medical ethics, is there?  Uh.. let me think...

if by handled it perfectly you mean everybody panicked and knee jerked and even now we cant go for a week without the rules changing..sure..lol

i think its more of a case of we did something...and that was surprisingly enough more effective than doing nothing...i suspect in hindsight we still pretty much fucked everything up

Oh that’s probably fair.

I assumed here that implementation was left to TSA:

“Shoes ON”

“No, shoes off, laptops out, electronics in”

No, Shoes ON, phones out, baggies full”

No, screw  the baggies but get those shoes off fucker”

Why are your shoes off you moron? let’s see that phone!”

Get that mask off for crying out loud!  I’m going to Tase you!

How dare you go out without a mask!

Buy an airplane ticket!

Don’t go near an airport moron!

OK, you can go near an airplane but only with mask and gloves!

Meanwhile, what we knew 100 years ago but apparently forgot?

Jesus, what a shitshow.

Can you show anyone opposing the corrupt guillotine-worthy shitshow currently in power who says the European method is “perfect”? I mean, you are using quotes, so you must have something, right? There is no “perfect” (your word) solution to this mess, but some handle it better than others.

I’d say with Sturgis and GOP gatherings alone (ask Herman Cain, oh wait), no American has a right to turn up their nose at how anyone else in the world operates (OK, maybe the lie factories of Stalputinland and the PRC Kleptocracy (that orange one claims to oppose but I bet those EB-5s given to CCP members are still being printed on demand ) .

Oh, and this never gets old - what an irresponsible POS this excuse for a man is:

Well, the surveys consistently say people think there’s vast superiority in the way the Europeans handled it.

https://today.yougov.com/topics/international/articles-reports/2020/06/02/europe-thinks-they-managed-covid-19-better-than-us

On the other hand, it’s clear when the office of the POTUS is described as “ corrupt guillotine-worthy shitshow”, it’s going to be tough to have a rational discussion about the merits .

Spain, Germany and Portugal are seeing big flare-ups. As for the current numbers for Deaths Per Million?

Belgium 861

Spain 617

UK 610

SWEDEN 575 (Since CNN claims Sweden really fukt it up, this is odd)

US 544

There’s no absolute answer here, but oddly the Swedish economy is emerging in great shape. It’s certainly hard for me to see, in the numbers that really count, (ie getting dead from this crap) that the US is in any worse shape, despite the importance of the election messaging to the party that wants to run the show .

I do find it hilarious that the newly nominated candidate “would listen to the scientists”, given how easy it is to find “a scientist” to support whatever point of view you want to portray. The core problem is that very little is known about this one. (EXAMPLE: This week the research that now says that little kids are absolute super-spreading germ factories, when “the science” early on insisted they couldn’t catch it and couldn’t spread it.). A scientist insisted early on that masks wouldn’t help us, when any idiot knew that it was the only thing (and isolation) that WOULD help. Of course, they knew masks helped 100 years ago too. Go figger.

Kinja'd!!!

I’ll leave it there. What has failed us here is SCIENCE.. it’s not working fast enough, clearly enough and accurately enough to help. We just have to cope with that. We have too many “ unknown unknowns” still.

I hope we’re adult enough to meet back here in a couple of years and tally the huge spike in d omestic violence, child abuse, murders and suicide that have come out of this. We’ll end up with 200K (mostly...) elderly dead from this, even as we sacrifice a half million to suicide and domestic violence. I think it’s a lousy trade-off. Your view may differ.

Have a nice afternoon.

Hey, you started the political angle. Be prepared to be called out on it, or refrain from it.

Your own quote was the EU handled it “perfectly” “according to the party out of power”. Your link relates to that in zero ways. Perfectly is not the same as “better than”. Reminds me of some other claimed data that was never provided a week or so ago. Quotes can be a dangerous thing - they need to either relate to statements, or sarcasm.

Seeing as most of the world is effectively banning US tourists, it appears humanity in general doesn’t trust the response so bravely led by this corrupt regime. Most of humanity thinks many places have handled it “better than” the US. We can also look at South Korea, Germany, even Canada. Sweden’s economy, marginally better off than similarly developed EU locations (and doing worse than other Nordics, IIRC) might also be related to it being in better shape before the pandemic - definitely not as much of a deflated middle class, socio-economic chasm, and growing underclass as in the US, for example.

I agree about science, too bad a certain side of the coin doesn’t appear to like science, or educated credible people in general, rather a little group of “doctors” with often wacky backgrounds release ridiculous statements in support of the regime, as they know they won’t be impacted. Let’s just appoint more inheritance elite zero-credential campaign donors and keep things going.

Sadly, IMO the data from many US locations, not just related to covid, but to all of the externalities of the slowdown you mention, especially from south of a certain old line, is about as trustworthy as data from China or Russia. I also have little belief in those concerned about those externalities (I am curious to see where that suicide number is coming from) aren’t really just concerned with money (and the current market situation proves the disconnect between equities and economic conditions for actual people). There’s no perfect solution. What are you willing to sacrifice? The US is already over 175K deaths. If we have the long cold winter I fear, it’s going to fly past that 200K.

Good luck, stay healthy, wear that mask so we can move on from this mess.
